Tricep strengthener

This exercise requires a resistance band, which you can purchase from most reputable online and high street sports shops and catalogue retailers. Alternatively you could try using a pair of tights.

This exercise works the triceps muscles. Strong triceps are needed to push up using the arms from a lying position, for example, when trying to get up out of bed.

  • Sit upright in your usual chair.
  • Place the band around your knees and hold onto the two ends.
  • Pull your arms backwards to your hips, keeping the rest of your body still.
  • Hold for a second and then slowly return to the starting position. Keep your back as straight as you can.

Try to do 4 or 5 repetitions every other day.
