How do I know my baby is ready to start weaning?

The earliest you should start weaning is from 17 weeks, not before this. If your baby is older than 17 weeks, here are some of the signs that they might be ready to be weaned:

  • they are beginning to sit up and have some head control
  • They may also be able to put their hand to their mouth
  • they are showing interest in food and what others are eating
  • They may be making munching movements as if they are eating

Once you sense they are ready to eat then start weaning.
