What about baby led weaning?

Baby led weaning is a method of adding complementary foods to a baby's diet of breast milk or formula.

The ideal would be a mixture of pureed food and finger foods in a wide variety of flavours and textures. Supervise your child closely and make sure they do not take bites that are too big as they may choke. If you are planning to do baby led weaning you should wait until your child is 6 months old.

It is recommended that you use a combination of this technique and regular weaning. Make sure you give your baby a wide range of textures so they learn to manage different foods. Introduce more foods with bigger textures as their muscles develop.
