Why do I need to give my child vitamins when I am breast feeding?

As a precaution to prevent deficiencies, it is recommended that all babies are given 8.5 - 10 micrograms of vitamin D supplementation per day. Children and adults are also recommended to take 10 micrograms of Vitamin D supplementation per day.
