Why is my child going to the toilet too much?

There are various causes if your child is pooing more than you expect:

  • They may be eating too much fibre.
  • It could be an allergy to something like cows milk, or some other allergy.
  • It may be due to bacteria picked up whilst teething, causing diarrhoea.
  • Your child could have been constipated and things are now clearing out.
  • Eating a lot of fizzy or sugary foods and drinks such as sugar free gum or sweets can cause more toilet visits.
  • Vaccinations can also affect how often they go to the toilet, so if your child has had one recently then bear this in mind.
